Our aim is to empower women in the rural areas in Tiruvallur District in such a way that they are able to meet their financial and social needs. The means through which we are achieving this goal is by organising women in self-help groups (SHGs). We help these SHGs to access financial resources so that they can start income generating activities. Apart from the SHGs, women and their relatives can also seek help in our family counselling centre.

Children & Education
Four of our projects focus on offering children a safe environment and access to adequate schooling. We are running a government children’s home and the district level reception unit for abandoned children. We are also working with families of migrant workers to ensure that their children go to school. Our counselling scholarship mentoring programme offers children of migrant families the possibility to pursue their higher education.
Persons With Disabilites
Persons with disabilities are often excluded from many life domains. Access to public services such as education and health care is restricted. They are not participating in social events and are not involved in the decision making process on the family- and community level. To improve their situation in Tiruvallur District, we focus our attention to the five domains: health, education, livelihood, social inclusion and empowerment.
