IRCDS has been working for the cause of promoting the inclusion of the People with Disability(s)in alignment with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which is an international human rights treaty of the United Nations intended to protect the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities. Parties to the Convention are required to promote, protect, and ensure the full enjoyment of human rights by persons with disabilities and ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy full equality under the law.
Our primary focus area is spread between Education, Health, Livelihood, Social and Empowerment. We are working to enable, equip and empower children and adults with a range of disabilities as follows:
- Awareness on causes of disability and rights of Persons with disabilities
- Capacity building of Persons with Disabilities / family members and community members on “Inclusiveness”
- Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities through Community Based Rehabilitation strategy.
- Organize Persons with Disabilities as “village level groups” and extending mentoring support to Vasantham Federation of differently abled persons.
