Workshop on Prevention of Child Marriage with Women Headed Households and Care givers of Orphan/semi orphan children organised by the Department of Social Welfare & Women Empowerment, District Child Protection unit and IRCDS with the support of Children Believe at T.R.S.Thirumana Mandapam , Tiruvallur on 21st February 2023.
Dr.Alby John Varghese, I.A.S, District Collector inaugurated the program. Ms.A. Catherine Saranya, I.A.S, Sub- Collector, Ms.Lavanya Kesava Raj, Program Manager, Children Believe, Govt officials, PRI reps and CBO leaders participated and delivered speech on prevention of child marriage and importance of Higher education. Children and parents and Panchayat Presidents took part in the panel discussion.
Two weeks long Awareness Campaign on “ Breaking Barriers to Education, Gender and Social Inclusion” was launched by the District Collector. Posters ie pictures drawn by the children on above said themes also published during this event. Rs 3 lakhs scholarship support given for 30 children for higher education.
